Around 170 Lundquist College alums and friends joined Dean Kees de Kluyver and Warsaw Sports Marketing Center director Paul Swangard at Southern California's Indian Wells Tennis Garden for the Warsaw-Thurston Award Gala--and a weekend of tennis-centric fun. Now in its second year, the annual award honors the memories of Jim Warsaw and Annalee Thurston by recognizing the achievements of an individual who has advanced opportunities for women in the business of sport. This year's recipient was Micky Lawler--head of sports business powerhouse Octagon's tennis division. Lawler was honored for her key role in bringing women's tennis to the global stage. Other weekend events included the opportunity to play in a tennis Pro-Am match, plus the chance to enjoy a day at the 2012 BNP Paribas Open--where (perhaps drawn by the presence of so many Ducks?) a surprise rainstorm delayed play for several hours. Watch the above video to find out more about the event and this year's honoree.
